June –Highlight

I have picked Pea Ridge-Beta Alpha as June’s Highlight!  Why, you ask?  Well, over the years they have worked very hard as an ESA Chapter, but we have all done that.  To me, Beta Alpha has worked against all odds to remain an ESA Chapter in Arkansas.  The hearts of Dorothy William, Ruth Talburt, and Eula Landis has kept this chapter alive and going.  Their membership has been low before, but over the last year Beta Alpha has come back in full strength.  In 2009 Beta Alpha had 4 members and in 2011 they have 12 members.  The best part is they are not just, members they are workers.  When I asked current president Karen Kitterman, what kind of events they do, this was her reply:

“We have the cutest baby boxes at our fair that the voting money all goes to St. Jude. I am adding a Hope for Heroes event for November.

Pretty sure it will be care packages to local soldiers. Something for recruitment in September. We do our St. Jude Roadblock in October.

We also put on an Easter Egg Hunt, Pea Ridge Fair, Miss Pea Ridge Pageants(Miss, Jr. Miss, Teen, Pre-Teen, Tiny & Teeny), Car show, Senior                   Thanksgiving Dinner, we sponsor a family or 4 angels from the Angel Tree for Christmas, and organize the Christmas Parade.  We are hoping to                    raise enough money this year to get back to giving 4-$100 scholarships to our seniors also. Beta Alpha also has a 2 mile section sponsor of the                   highway that we clean up at least twice a year.”

All I can say to that is “Wow, way to go Beta Alpha”.  Can you imagine doing all this with only 4/5 members?  I can’t.  I am so proud to say I am in a state with such great hard working sisters.

Thanks for all you do to make your chapter and the State of Arkansas look good.

Lots and Lots of Love!
